Foundation
Calm skin first. Everything else follows.
Foundation is where every skin journey at CAL MED begins. Before lasers, before injectables, before anything intensive — the skin needs to be calm, hydrated, and stable. Foundation treatments restore the barrier, settle inflammation, and prepare the skin to respond well to everything that follows. Most clinics skip this step. We don’t.
For You IF
Best For
Sensitised, dry, or dull skin. First-time CAL MED patients. Anyone restarting after a break from treatments. Skin that’s been over-treated, irritated by active ingredients, or unresponsive to skincare changes.
Not For
Skin that already has a stable barrier and is ready for active treatments — head to Stimulation or Restoration. Acute medical skin conditions (eczema flares, infections) — speak to Dr Gabriel first.
What it works on
Barrier function, hydration, inflammation, sebum balance, overall skin comfort and clarity.
THE TREATMENTS
Five protocols, each chosen for a specific job.
CAL MED Signature Cleansing Facial
Our in-house cleansing protocol. A gentle, sequenced cleanse that strips nothing — designed as a reset for skin that’s been over-cleansed, over-exfoliated, or over-active.
HydraFacial Signature
Three steps: cleanse, extract, hydrate. The most reliable in-clinic deep clean. Suitable for almost every skin type.
HydraFacial Premium
HydraFacial with targeted boosters added — anti-redness, brightening, or hydration-intensive. Calibrated to your skin on the day.
Candela ClearGlow Facial
A clinical-grade deep clean designed for congested or breakout-prone skin. Gentle, but it goes deep.
SynerJet Pro Facial
An oxygen-jet delivery facial. Pushes hydration and active ingredients into the skin without needles or downtime.
“After a few weeks, your skin starts holding hydration again. You’ll feel it before anyone else sees it.”
— What to expect from Foundation
HOW A PROGRAMME WORKS
Three steps. The same for every tier.
#1
Consultation
A structured consultation with Dr Gabriel Cao. Skin assessment, history, and a candid conversation about what you actually want — and what’s realistic.
#2
Treatment Plan
A sequenced plan, calibrated to your skin. Session count and cadence depend on the tier and your goals — some need a series, some need a single session. All of it is agreed upfront so you know what you’re committing to.
#3
Follow-up
Skin reassessment after the initial sequence. Adjustments made as needed. From here, your plan either continues, moves to a new tier, or steps into The Longevity Method for ongoing care.
Questions about Foundation
What's the difference between Foundation and a regular facial?
Foundation treatments at CAL MED are calibrated by Dr Gabriel based on a clinical skin assessment — not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Each session is targeted to your specific barrier or hydration status, and adjusted as your skin responds. A regular facial is a service. Foundation is part of a planned sequence.
How many Foundation sessions do most patients need?
Most patients see meaningful change in barrier function and skin comfort within 3 to 4 sessions over 4 to 6 weeks. After that, Foundation typically continues as maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks, or pauses as you move into Stimulation or other active tiers.
Can I do Foundation alongside other CAL MED treatments?
Yes — Foundation is often run in parallel with other tiers. For patients on injectables or laser, Foundation supports recovery between sessions and protects barrier function long-term. Dr Gabriel will recommend the right cadence at consultation.
Is there any downtime?
No. Foundation treatments are designed to leave the skin calmer and more comfortable than when you arrived. Most patients return to work or social plans the same day. Some may experience mild flushing for an hour or two, particularly with more active boosters.
WHAT FOLLOWS FOUNDATION
When the skin is stable, these are the natural next steps.
Build collagen and activate the skin’s regenerative machinery. Where most patients go next.
If a specific concern needs targeted work — melasma, scars, vascular lesions — this is the doctor-led answer.
Doctor-administered injectables. Considered and restrained.
Start where the skin actually is.
